A lot has changed since the year 2000: mail is electronic, we get laid through apps, and skater-started shoe companies have gone damn near extinct as big corporations have pushed their way into the market. Lakai is still kicking though, and they’re leveraging their 20-year history to help push them into the future.
Case in point, the new and improved Mike Carroll shoe, which takes the bones of MC’s iconic pro model he was wearing throughout his Modus Operandi part and updates it with the new tech advancements we’ve all enjoyed in the two decades since it first came out.
The good folks at Lakai called us up recently to try and figure out a way to share the news with our readers, which wasn’t easy considering we’re all still on lockdown and operating on a shoestring budget.
Steven from Marketing said jokingly Carroll was really only good at two things: skating and raving, and since MC can’t skate at the moment, why not have him make a playlist? The shoe itself is kind of like a remix, so the idea was good enough for us.
Carroll sent us several dozen tracks of West Coast Rap, East Coast Rap, and random party gems to get you hyped in your home. So without further ado, we present Carroll’s “New Old Shoe Promotion Mix” to help get your body moving and promote his reimagined OG shoe in 2020.
Make sure to download it here while you can, too.
