Now that we’re done with our summer traveling and are back on the east coast with the real shit talkers, we decided to take the two-hour drive to New Haven, CT, and hit the grand opening of Alexis Sablone and Trevor Thompson’s new skate shop, Plush.
The shop is located in pretty a historic area right next to Yale, which was a bit of a surprise. The surrounding cafes and restaurants were filled with Ivy Leaguers and dads in polos, but all the future shop lurkers were out in the streets in front of the new shop designed by Alexis herself. The crew from Plush celebrated all day by bringing out a bunch of obstacles over to a closed-down street just a block away from the shop, which the WKND crew, a few CONS riders, and a handful of New Haven locals skated.
To learn more about our CT neighbors across the way and the budding skate scene in New Haven, we hung around and annoyed the locals in between trick attempts and bites of free pizza.
If you dig this series and want us to stop by your favorite shop or skatepark next and interview the local heads, all you have to do is buy us a plane ticket out there and convince us it’ll be a good time. Fuck it, we’ll probably do it.

this comment is pretty stupid, but it does feel a little ironic that Shop Talk has finally returned to a skate shop and the shop is kind of not in the picture.
