PREMIERE: “HYD”

June 19, 2017/ / VIDEOS/ Comments: 3

The last thing I wrote in my notes after watching HYD is, “A proper homie video.” After re-watching it three or four times, I stand by that. But I’m curious what does HYD stand for? How Ya Doing? Hey You Douche? Happy Young Dicks? I don’t know, but clearly, that doesn’t matter. The skating is top notch, the soundtrack is eclectic, and the editing by Thomas Koehne is of pro quality.

When talking about approaching the filming Thomas said, “I think it’s important to treat every clip like it’s special,” he continued, “Kid’s nowadays will drop mad $$$ on a camera and lens set-up but aren’t willing to spend the time to learn the trade.”

The meticulousness in Thomas’ editing shows and with his use of Super 8 clips, funny quotes talking shit about Jersey, or just a simple black screen with an asterisk, HYD is clearly a culmination of many hours of agony, love and labor.
