Jahmal Williams has been in the East Coast scene longer than most skaters have been alive. An original known for being one of Boston’s first “serious” pros with his jazzy creative yet technical skating, there’s nothing cookie cutter about him. If this playlist of classics were coming from some 19-year-old, we might be skeptical, but coming from Jahmal, who actually lived through “The Golden Era” of hip-hop, the height of East Coast punk, and with a genuine love and understanding of jazz, it makes total sense. Jahmal didn’t just discover these tracks because some music blog put them on their list of “100 Greatest Songs of All Time”, he lived through them.
Stream Jahmal’s mix below, and if you’re into it, download it here while you can.
