Hardcore and skateboarding have a lot in common. Both look stupid as hell to outside viewers, piss off old people and leave you sore in the morning. Following this logic you can assume that the average skateboarding enjoyer also dabbles in hardcore, so it didn’t take Einstein level IQ to know an event including both would be entertaining.
That’s exactly what Rapid Skateshop orchestrated with the support of Cons. They brought together 24 hardcore bands, multiple skate shops in the area like Black Hole, and a slew of sketchy ramps for their second annual Rapid Fest. The entire Anderson family was in attendance (no, not Pamela, I mean Mike and Jake), including Mike’s truck, which was transformed into the skate jams main event.
The music is loud, there’s ample burn outs, and Jake has a story about losing his dinner out of both ends. What more could you ask for out of an event tucked away in the California hills? Also, before you ask, yes, that was Jesse Rutherford, lead singer of the Neighbourhood and ex to Billie Eilish. Did somebody say identity crisis? Enjoy!
