No matter how sheltered you are, there will be a time and a place where you’re asked to whip out a dance move in front of a crowd of people. And let’s be honest, you never know what the hell to do.
Maybe you try to be nonchalant and bop your head, or you go old school and hit the disco, or just throw caution to the wind and hit the worm.
None of those are even close to being cool though. Do you know what would be? Hitting a legit ass breakdancing move. So for this episode of Jenkem Tries, I decided to shuffle feet first into the world of breaking.
That’s where my homie Twan6000 comes in. Twan’s style of breaking is built for viral moments, incorporating his interests in hardcore slam dancing, traditional b-boy power moves, and skateboarding ability into one spinning anomaly.
Together we hopped around different breaking meetups around Brooklyn, and I got a crash course on what it takes to be a B-boy. Ultimately culminating in a cipher dance battle wherein I try not to embarrass myself in front of some of Brooklyn’s best breakers, it’s not one to skip over.
