Have you ever noticed that the best board companies and bands are kinda similar? They are made up of friends, aren’t formed with the goal of making money, and create independently from current trends.
The only difference we see is that a board brand would never quit at the peak of their popularity, which is what the young band Widowdusk recently did.
Formed in 2021 by skaters Jordan Giordano and Jace Esplin, Widowdusk’s trajectory was explosive. Originally a tight knit group of friends who frequented Apple Valley Skatepark, the band garnered a cult fanbase impassioned by their open-heart, lo-fi and sensitive screamo music.
With nearly 300,000 monthly listeners and only one full album under their belt in “Self-Titled,” we couldn’t believe they were stepping away from the project when it felt like there was so much potential.
It’s this feeling that led Ian Ostrowski, our resident “I was in a band once” homie, to do some digging.
Join Ian for a cathartic final performance at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, a heartfelt conversation about the band’s dissolution, and more during Widowdusk’s final month as a band.
