A lot has been said about the Deftones over the last 30-odd years, and although the dreary algorithms of the modern age have us all in a chokehold, at least they help allow for some good bands — like Deftones — to have a resurgence amongst the youth of today. Sure, one could argue it breeds posers, casuals — whatever nihilistic term you feel inclined could apply — but finding some new music that changes your POV as a youngster is always a good thing.
Even as a peripheral Deftones fan, you hear their songs, see their record covers, and it makes you want to know more. That’s definitely the case for their 1997 release, Around the Fur. One could argue that the just-lewd-enough cover is amongst some of the most visually iconic releases of the ’90s, and knowing that skate photographer, Rick Kosick, shot it just makes it that much sweeter.
We were in Seattle when we found out that the cover girl still resided in town and was down to share her experience with us, 28 years later.

Woah. Man… can you imagine what it’s like being this angry? This was a cool little story regardless of who the band was or who they turned into. It bring me back to being 13 Deftones was my first “heavy” concert and they played a big role in my early teens. I never noticed the zit or the tooth and I don’t plan to seek it out because as previously stated.. who cares. But I say that after reading this guys comment and I realize some people care a lot about extremely stupid shit and they’re very passionate about their hatred. It’s almost scary even though deep down you know this psycho commenter is a giant pussy bitch that probably would speak with the same poor English but he wouldn’t have the balls to say this to the band or the director of the video or the interviewer. He’s just so mad at life probably because the baby metal girls are legal age now and he still has no chance in hell.
Stay mad buddy, I doubt I’m the only one enjoying seeing you lose your shit over the smallest nothing I came across today. Just remember when you get bored with all of your hate. There are people outside and many of them are women.
