Yesterday we gave you all a close look at São Paulo’s CPTMAFIA as they mobbed through the city’s streets 18 heads deep. Today, we have a new edit featuring some of the Mafia, as well as members from affiliate crew ZNS. It’s the latest entry in the Street Survivor series by filmer Gabriel Romero, highlighting the marriage of the two crews.
The video itself has a distinguishing saturation, reflective of the place where it was filmed; a country with a vibrant and rich culture that has produced some of skating’s greatest talents but has never fully been appreciated for its contributions to skating at large. Brazil has no shortage of skaters, but with no direct connection to the industry (due to economic hindrances in trade), historically their talent hasn’t always become buzzy on a global industry scale.
The most successful Brazilian skaters have had to make their way to The States or Europe but now with brands and skaters looking elsewhere for expansion and inspiration, the Brazilian scene is starting to garner some global attention. We’re taking notice, and you should too.
