Skaters are notoriously not the best romantic partners. Most of us are bad communicators, broke, and obsessed with skating. There are even countless Instagram meme accounts poking fun of our troubles holding down any meaningful relationship. With all of this negativity swirling around, it must seem impossible for a young single skater to find their perfect someone. But then we see videos like this one from DC rider Aleka Lang and his girlfriend Jess Wong.
Aleka and Jess seem to have it all figured out: they live together in Vancouver, film and edit each others skating, and make a damn good looking couple. Every Saturday morning, these two have the tradition of cooking brunch together and they even fingerboard while they wait.
To get us inspired, Aleka and Jess filmed their weekly ritual on a Hi-8 camera to bring a little bit of this idealist love to our poor lonely souls.

At first I was thinking, why the hell would I want to watch some skaters I’ve never heard of make brunch together filmed in hi8. Then as I watched it I got stoked. It was super pleasant to view and made me want to go cook. Nice work guys and gals!

I almost got lost in the mid-90s aesthetic but a few things ripped me out of it, like the way he skates (especially the way he kick flips), the grocery store they went to, and the fact that they even made a salad with eggs and fancy bread in the first place.
