LEFT ON READ: MARCOS MONTOYA

Here’s a conclusion I came to recently. Your best friends are the ones you send memes back and forth with.

There’s no quicker way to develop jokes, learn someone’s humor and develop close friendships. Here lies the origins of Left On Read, an interview series where we creep through one of our friends’ phones.

I’m talking notes, camera roll, search histories, movie recommendations, memes, and more.

Today, we’ve unlocked Marcos Montoya’s phone. You might recognize Marcos from various Adidas projects, one being our very own “Shabeatz” tour video, as well as two solo parts “Chapel” and “FL Made” that released last year.

Marcos recently brought his calm, effortlessly cool style back to Florida, and while putting the finishing touches on a new apartment he made some time to chat.

Enjoy the scroll, and a little secret, his phone password is 42069. Jk, we didn’t get that intel, but we got everything else!

I’m hyped about being back home in Florida and being close to the beach. If I wanted to, I could walk there.

I’ve been listening to a lot of YoungBoy, like “I Ain’t Scared” or “Valuable Pain”, the more calm ones. Also Mobb Deep and the Alchemist’s collab songs. But my music is all over the place. Sometimes I’m just listening to Audioslave [laughs].

I was in LA at South Pas. I don’t really see this trick that much.

I bit on a back grind. I was warming up, and I don’t blame it on the spot, it was all me. I missed my ollie, and I just bit. It happened so fast, like you don’t even realize what happened until you’re past the sack.

Adidas Top Ten 2000 all black, Inflatable ice bath, and Maze Runner movie order. They just put the Maze Runner movies back on Netflix and I wanted to watch them in the right order. The first and the last ones are the best.

I’m not into podcasts, but I’m into documentaries. The last one I watched was about Anthony Bourdain, documenting his life and travels.

@onlyindade It’s an account that posts crazy Florida situations. It makes me laugh because I recognize where these things are happening.

These are both film photos, shot on an Olympus XA2. I love shooting film because the shot you get feels like a pause in time. That exact moment will never happen again. The first one is my wife on the 4th of July. The other is at Notre Dame in Paris. I like how the people are blurry but the cross is in focus.

I always watch old boxing fights, like Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Pitbull. My favorite boxer is Floyd, and then these days I’ve been into Gervonta Davis too, but he says he’s going to retire soon.

I’ve been watching Twin Peaks.

A Dictionary of Color Combinations by Sanzo Wada. It shows color combinations that you wouldn’t think to put together. Me and my wife have been using it to help with designing our new place.

13 Hours. It’s a war movie, which is another rabbit hole I go down. When I’m flying, war movies always get me through flights too [laughs].

I just got this 80s Magnussen Ponte Mactan Stone Coffee Table. It’s the last thing we found for our place. It’s hard to find a good glass table.

Creative, Fun, and Free.
