We hate to say it, but most interviews with pro skateboarders tend to produce some pretty stale content these days, and who can blame them?
With big sponsors to keep happy, multiple video deadlines to juggle and various modeling gigs to book, routines and opinions have gone bland. In pursuit of finding compelling stories we decided to take a page out of OG Jenkem’s playbook: turning the camera back on you.
Our series “Locals” focuses on the often overlooked characters that surround skateboarding – the eccentrics, weirdos and local legends who are staples in the community for reasons outside of having a great back tail. It’s the people with no sponsors to answer to and no paychecks to lose. The people who skate for the love and have a routine unique to themselves.
For our latest episode, we bring you Kilian Pryor, the UPS driver that skates on his breaks. He’s known in the Arizona area for spreading joy through his love of skateboarding to families all along his delivery route. Playing part philanthropic local, part plain-clothed Santa Claus, we had to know more.
A devoted father, complete skate nerd, and Birdhouse megafan, he’s a staple of the community. Follow along through a day in the back of a UPS truck and an after-work cool down session.

My day was totally ruined and I sat in my car for a moment. This article popped up top of my Google list. I took a moment to read and watch. At 49yrs old my knee is not getting better on its own. I was scheduled for surgery 8 years ago and I skipped because I could not take so much time off work…
Today I was given the red light for surgery and learned that my hip is now affected. Got lots of pain meds which I am sure is leading to narcotics.
After this video I changed my mind. I’m gonna fight for surgery to get my body repaired. I’m gonna build a little 1 foot 1/4 pipe and learn to skate again. Thanks Kilian and Jenkem!!
