Whether you need something to help you fall asleep, daydream at work, or tune out your significant other, this ambient skate noise tape should do the trick.
In case you missed the first “Sleeping Tape” from earlier this year, check out that post to get better situated with the series and listen to the slightly longer tape no. 1.
Basically, these tapes are made by Timothy Deconynck, a guy with lovely dreads (and a somehow still active MySpace page), who mixes skate sounds and memorable dialogue from skate videos into synthy/wavy/undulating music. The skate sounds blend into warm rhythmic pulses and for anyone that grew up loitering at their local skate park, there’s something incredibly comforting about it all.
This second tape is titled “Smell of Urethane” and features fragments of Sean Sheffey talking about his first contact with skateboarding, dialogue from young Tyshawn, and Dylan Rieder skating LA picnic tables.
If you like stuff like The KLF or are just an ASMR dork, this is for you. We’ll keep you posted when Tim drops the next tape, and if you have any requests or feedback for him, write below and we’ll pass it on.
