Our friend and filmer Alex Raspa hit us up late one night from the bar, claiming he had set up a skate sesh with Mark Gonzales and Rune Glifberg, who was visiting from Copenhagen. Of course, we were skeptical but we trusted his word and trekked from our Brooklyn HQ to Chelsea Piers on a cold November day to see what would happen.
Turns out the Gonz and Rune both beat us there, and we got to witness a legendary doubles session before Mark disappeared into the foggy day on his child-sized bicycle. From there, we showed Rune around the neighborhood, catching up on what he’s been up to post Sorry days, throwing back a few drinks and bowling.
Never having seen much of Rune on camera outside of a skate video, we were surprised to find out that he is an extremely laid back dude who’s still keeping himself involved in skating in the latter part of his career, whether it’s watching the latest videos from Palace or 917, skating or helping design skateparks in Europe. Here’s just a quick look at our short afternoon hang.
