Skateboarding has always been one big sausage fest. So, we figured why not actually throw one?
Enter the 999 challenge.
Birthed on the baseball diamond by frat boys and alcoholic fathers, we knew it had the potential to adapt perfectly to skateboarding. Originally nine hot dogs, nine beers and nine innings, we replaced the innings with tre flips and sent out a flyer looking for the perfect skater.
Within 48 hours we had eight unknown drunkards, 100 hotdogs, a local bodegas’ entire stock of bud light, and somehow secured $999 courtesy of Element skateboards to crown one lucky winner.
What ensued was one of skateboarding’s most glorious sporting events. No ramps, no pros, no big shoe sponsors, just a hot grill, a cooler full of ice, and straight flatground tricks.
