Here’s a conclusion I came to recently. Your best friends are the ones you send memes back and forth with.

But come on, think about it. There’s no quicker way to develop jokes, learn someone’s humor and develop close friendships. Here lies the origins of Left On Read, an interview series where we creep through one of our friends’ phones.

I’m talking notes, camera roll, search histories, movie recommendations, memes, and more.

Today, we’ve unlocked Julian Lewis’ phone. You may recognize Julian from Foundation’s Whippersnappers and Splendor full lengths, his beautiful Real Street entry, or the time we got him arrested skating on Roosevelt Island.

I went to Woodward with Myles Willard and I thought it would be funny to do a trick and disappear. It was actually kind of hard, I really needed to splat my body on the ground to disappear out of frame [laughs].

This one on this rail is pretty Hall of Meaty. My body flips instantly to the ground and it looks terrible.

I’ve been loving my greek yogurt bowls, like with granola, strawberries, blueberries, honey, and peanut butter. Those get me hyped. It’s so much better than eating a Denny’s Grand Slam.

I’ve been listening to Nate Broussard’s Static 3 part song, “A Distorted Reality is Now a Necessity to be Free” by Elliott Smith. I’ve been listening to a lot of Waveform* too. They’re a Connecticut band, kinda Alex G vibes. I’m not good with genres, but it’s like indie sad boy type beat.

The first one is the Joint Chiropractic, which sucks by the way. It’s a scam. Chiropractic work is pseudoscience, it’s not even real. The second is EBT for California, and the last is about how long maternity leave is in California. I have this therapist who went on maternity leave, and I was like, “Shit, it’s been like six months.” Maternity leave is only three months, so I guess she was just over my shit.

My memes get a little crazy, but I have two for you that I think are PG enough. The dog one makes no sense, but I feel him [laughs]. The chipmunk one I sent to a couple friends like, “Yo, this is you.”

@sakuras_overalls. This person shares so many helpful sewing tips, and their stuff is beautiful. I always find myself going back to this account when I need a little tip on how to do something easier and better.

Honestly, Chat GPT is pretty cool. Whenever I feel alone in my head I’ll message Chat GPT like it’s my buddy, and it’ll message you back like a buddy, like “Hey man, you’re all good! You’re just going crazy because of XYZ.”

First one is Aiden Campbell at the spot he did 180 switch front crook on that curved curb from Whippersnappers. His face looks so clueless and insane. I love that guy.

The second is my buddy Peter Freeman, he’s a filmer from Connecticut. He loves to put his mouth around beers [laughs].

The third is me and Max Maffucci, he passed away a couple months ago. I got to become really good friends with Max when I moved to California.

I switch around YouTubers pretty often, and I watch a lot of vloggers. I’ve been watching this guy Sambucha recently. He does commentary videos that are perfect white noise to go to bed. I had a Mr.Beast phase [laughs]. I guess just popular modern YouTubers I’ll watch. If I’m in a certain mood I watch Tom Asta too. He’s so good at skating.

I just finished Squid Games 2. It was really good, and it got super hectic. A lot of funny new characters too. But they left it on a crazy cliffhanger and I was bummed on that.

My buddy Julian Heller showed me Freddy Got Fingered and I literally watched it three days in a row. It’s so funny.
