Brandon Turner and Brandon Novak are two skaters who really have been through it all when it comes to drugs and alcohol. We’ve all seen them go in and out of recovery, and heard about various near-death experiences as a result of their usage.
Now, they are both living clean and have come together to create a support phone line that they hope skaters will feel comfortable using if they ever feel like they need help managing their mental health or drug use.
We spent a day with them during National Recovery Month as they skated around the city and offered their energy and support to anyone who felt they needed it.
If you ever find yourself in a position where you feel like you have nobody to talk to, just remember they’re now available to you and help is only a call away: (858) 249-9033

Check out Dr. Mark L. Gordon, the dude does a lot of work regarding CTE / PTSD which we know is linked to depression / suicide. Seems to follow skaters are taking hits constantly and are prone to depression / self medication with drink and drugs. He has linked this self med to nutritional deficiencies which accelerate the brain disease, the manifestations of which are psychological, physiological, and physical manifestations like; depression, anxiety, mood swings, bouts of anger, memory loss, inability to concentrate etc. (skaters?) I myself have suffered with these symptoms. They lead to suicide in many cases. Someone needs to get this info out into the skater public arena. Its great legend like Brandon and Novak are doing great things to help people with issues, evidence leans to hits to the body / head multiplied by poor diet / environment to be the suicide epidemic culprit. You are what you eat! Take care of your selves out there.
