Jenkem doesn’t usually post stuff like this – actually we like to brag about how we create mostly all original content: no reposts, press releases, PR stunts, links to the “hot new video”…etc. But every once and while, something comes along that’s really good. So good that just sharing it on our Facebook or making a tweet about it wouldn’t do it justice. As far as I’m concerned, Ian Mackaye [Fugazi / Minor Threat..etc] has one of the best explanations of the spirit of skateboarding and the magic of it all. Stuff like this should be printed out on cards and come packaged in every single board.
“Skateboarding is not a hobby. And it’s not a sport. Skateboarding is a way of learning how to redefine the world around you. It’s a way of getting out of house, connecting with other people, and looking at the world through different sets of eyes.” – Ian Mackaye
