A while back we were in Seattle filming an Adidas documentary and we met this kid named Nels Rosen, AKA Gnarls. He flagged us down to film a trick, and then he gave a random shoutout to none other than Powell Peralta.
We posted the video snippet on Instagram, and it popped. While most of the comment section was focused on Gnarl’s love for the archaic brand, it also revealed details of a rap career and an eccentric skate father.
Finding ourselves back in Seattle a few months later, we felt a calling to track Gnarls and his father down. And while we’re still not sure what to make of it, we’re excited to bring you a day in the life of Gnarls and Steve Rosen.
An unfiltered exploration of fatherhood in modern skateboarding, the drive of a young skater, and what happens when a parent’s dreams are intertwined with their kids, it’s a fever dream of a day we can’t stop thinking about.

Jenkem should have released this on Father’s Day. This is a great dad doing his best to help his kid achieve his dreams.

Trying to kook the kid and instead you just end up highlighting that he has an endlessly supportive father

The entire point of this video was to kook him bro why do you think they edited it like this, you think this was a sincere profile of a skater and his Dad? Go read the YouTube comments and it’s very obvious what the intention was here

Just pointing a camera at them isn’t kooking them. Every bit of footage I’ve seen of this kid he does a pretty good job of kooking himself
