It’s pretty much always easier to launch a skateboard brand than keep it alive. Skaters are fickle, and once the energy around the newness fades, you need at least a couple lifers with you to maintain any longevity.
But $lave plays at their own pace, remaining a steady hand in a sea of companies that have already come and gone. The fact that its been ten years since their last full video, Radio Television, is kind of a power move homage to the days when new footage wasn’t coming out every day. Focus on putting out absolute banger shit and skip the filler. Respect.
Recently their rider Pat Burke got everyone sparked with his comeback part earlier this year. After we interviewed him, then saw his well-deserved pro status, we were excited to see the rest of the team’s resurgence in their new full-length, Radio-Silence.
To get a look into what went into their new project, $lave’s founder Ben Horton put together this package of photos with hand scrawled notes on each one. We appreciate the human touch in our depressing digital world, so we decided to share everything exactly as Ben sent it.
