Sup y’all. We hope you are having an absolute slacker of a week at work, online holiday shopping and crushing IG reels.
It’s been a heck of a couple months in skateboarding, one full of high budget skate vids and corporate SOTY pushes, and we just wanted to check in.
Personally, we’ve been venting some frustrations around the office about overly-polished, soul-crushingly boring skate videos, and the suspicion is you might feel the same. Just when we felt we couldn’t possibly stand another triple angle slo-mo 50-50, something happened.
Jeff Cecere dropped “Triple or Nothing.”
Yuuuuuup. Chant with me. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. It’s his third December in a row dropping a 15+ minute video, and if there was ever a worry about New York not having consistent, quality output, Jeff is putting that to bed.
Watching this video for the first time, you immediately get hit with a sense of awe, of emotion. Its warm yet muted color hugs you and holds you while the distant, dreamy music occupies a comfortable backseat.
Not once does a wonky angle pull you out of your stupor. The only thing that shook us out were those back to back bump to bar clips from Salomon and Dick. They were filmed so gorgeously we had to run it back.
The video is dedicated to Max Maffucci, a friend to many who passed away after a battle with cancer. It’s a powerful ode to a friend, one that encapsulates the bonds we create in life, and as much as this is about the skateboarding, it’s also about friendship.
You can’t ignore that Jeff is at a peak in his talents, and it’s lovely to see. Thanks Jeff for all that you do. Shoutout the crew. Fly high Max.
MUST SEE MOMENTS
Jace opens it up with an NBD ollie from the damn moon.
Brad has the nicest kickflip in the game.
Fakie bigspins typically suck, but this one hits.
Max bringing a perfect tre and even better spot selection.
Zac Gavin with a delectable combo move.
Another one, said in Khaled voice.
Fuck it, one more.
Will See about this nollie flip.
Raise your hand if you’re apart of the Trevor Thompson fan club.
Shoutout Johnny and Jalen Brunson.
“Hit me baby one more time” said this spot.
Oh em gee Sully.
Switch nose manny or fakie manny? Let’s debate.
Holy ender. What a second angle. Beautiful.

great skateeing but everything looks like strobeck now no? so I wouldn’t directly say this should be considered to be “beautiful display of filmmaking”; maybe it is possible to make a video that looks like everything in the video that didn’t look like strobeck? that’d be interesting. a depart from this so homogenous style to create something very much different as skateboarding has always done. i don’t knwo why we have all found a consensus under strobeck style – which was cool almost 10 years ago, but now is getting quite boring.
achso the music is also a bit strange, j mascis is cool rest is not so cool, not so sexy all in all, but this is only nitpicking as something different was promised in the title, the video itself is very good.
