If there’s one thing more boring than skatepark footage, it’s contest footage.

For whatever reason, watching skateboard contests in real life just doesn’t translate well into a video edit – especially if it’s your standard “best tricks” recap. We’ve all seen it before – it’s monotonous. So having the chance to go to Detroit recently for the Best Foot Forward contest, of course we took a gamble and tried to film anything but skateboarding.

Instead of capturing the skating (which Transworld and Thrasher can both do much much better than us) we decided to go with our own article in mind: Tinder tips from Best Foot Forward skaters and Detroit locals. With the dating app being so popular among the contestants on the trip, even swiping right between skate spots, it seemed like a no brainer. Hell, even Mickey Reyes downloaded it just to see what the hype was all about.

While it seemed like a good idea on paper, it was much tougher to film and wasn’t quite the “smash hit” we anticipated. But hey, at least we get some points for trying something different, right? Anyway, without further ado, here’s 2 minutes of Tinder tips from skaters and Detroit’s finest.
